The Winter Series Title Fight Intensifies In Jerez

Round 3 of the GT4 Winter Series took us to the Circuito de Jerez in Southern Spain, as the title fight intensifies between the series front runners.

Following success in Estoril and Portimao earlier in the season, the team headed to the Circuito De Jerez in Spain for another weekend of GT4 action.

A strong performance from both Porter & Day in qualifying set us in good stead, securing the teams first triple pole position, and a front row start for each of the weekends three races.

Despite Spain’s typically warmer climate this time of year, we were treated to a healthy downpour of rain across the weekend, spicing things up as the rapidly evolving circuit kept even the most experienced drivers on their toes.

Despite the challenges thrown their way, we were treated with some top class racing with Jamie bringing home yet another win for the team in the first race of the weekend, and Mikey putting up a fierce defence in race two as he battled his way through the torrential rain towards the closing stages of race two, eventually bringing the car home in P3.

In the third and final race of the weekend, the heavy rain persisted, undeterred by the elements Jamie put in a strong stint, building a healthy gap to the cars behind before pitting to hand over the reigns to Mikey who was able to sustain the lead before unfortunately being taken out by a back marker, which forced an unavoidable trip through the gravel. As the chequered flag came down he crossed the line P5 in class, ending what was otherwise a dominant race for one of the youngest driver pairings on the grid.

Despite the unfortunate end to the last race of the weekend, it was another good result for the team here in Jerez.

We now turn our attention towards the forthcoming round in Valencia where a new circuit for the team will bring with it a new set of challenges, and hopefully more opportunities to score a healthy dose of points as the competition intensifies as we cruise towards the series’ halfway mark.
