An exciting British GT Debut at Oulton Park

After a long-anticipated wait, the first round of the British GT Championship finally got underway this past weekend at Oulton Park. The season opener, held over the Easter weekend, drew in thousands of spectators across the four-day event.

Fresh off the back of a successful campaign in the European GT4, the team was eager to maintain their impressive form and deliver victory at the Cheshire circuit.

Qualifying

Despite the wet conditions, both cars made their mark in the team's first qualifying session of the season. Car #7, driven by Mikey Porter and Jamie Day, secured Pole Position for Race One and P8 for Race Two. The #47 car of Marc Warren and Will Orton also put in an impressive performance, achieving P3 (class pole) and P9 overall for their first race of the season in the PRO/AM category.

Race One

As the first race of the weekend got underway, both cars got away well, avoiding trouble as cars peeled off left and right during the opening laps. As the heavens opened, the wheel-to-wheel racing only intensified.

As the chequered flag came out amidst a torrential downpour of rain, car #7 crossed the line in P1 overall, with #47 storming through to take P2 in class in the PRO/AM standings and P4 overall. A brilliant drive from both cars meant the team came away with a 40 points, setting us up well for the second and final race of the weekend.

Race Two

Under clear blue skies and a rapidly drying circuit, the second race of the weekend got underway. Both cars managed to build a steady gap before a safety car was deployed towards the closing stages of the race, neutralising any further progress by both cars. Car #47 secures a P2 finish both overall and in its class, closely followed by #7 taking P1 in class and landing in P3 overall.

We come away from Oulton with 70 points and a points lead of 23 in the team's championship, making for an incredible debut in the series. With round one now ticked off, the team is fully focused on preparations for the second round of the season, which takes us to Silverstone for the much-loved ‘Silverstone 500’ weekend, the first 3 Hour Endurance of the season.
